Season At-a-Glance

Summer 2014 156June, July, August: The close proximity of Mt Hood, OR provides SPAC athletes an excellent opportunity to race train during the summer.  Summer race camp is a great way to secure new movements patterns and get a jump on next season’s training.   Athletes should consult the SPAC Program Director and coaches for the most appropriate summer camp outside of the SPAC camp, for their racing and skiing development.

 

Summer 2014 162September: A family kick-off and ski swap is typically held in September.  This fun event is hosted by the SPAC Board of Directors and includes the popular Gift Basket Extravaganza “FUN”raiser.

October: Enrollment for the current season opens.

2014 race camp 3November: Dryland training begins is open to all Mighty Mites and Juniors participating in the short season, long season, full-time and PG programs.  Juniors start in early October and Mighty Mites start in early November.  Both groups finish the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Dryland training is offered on Saturday and/or Sunday.  Athletes work on improving their conditioning, balance, strength, agility, endurance and athleticism.  Skiing–related movement patterns are reinforced.

IMG_0038 December, January, February, March, April: On-snow training begins the first weekend in December, or the second weekend that the ski area is open.  The short-season training ends 10 weeks later in February. The long-season training ends early April.  All dates are dependent on snow and weather conditions.

2014 april's answerIn March we hold our “Celebrate SPAC” event.  This event is where we show our appreciation to everyone in our community from the staff of Stevens Pass to our coaches, parents and teammates.  Celebrate SPAC is a day and evening long series of events including a team race, coaches education, parent dinner, kids dinner, gifts of appreciation and more!

Apple Cup 2014 197May: A SPAC Awards and Graduate Recognition Banquet is typically planned for early May to celebrate the accomplishments of the season and recognize our graduating Seniors leaving the team.
